Frequently-Asked Questions

Scientists say Social Distancing is safe and effective, doesn't that mean it has to be true?

In the 1950's and 60's, there were commercials on prime-time television for Asbestos Floor Tiles.

One version of an advertisement that can be seen on video of the 1950's Burns and Allen Show described the benefits of a "self-polishing" floor, because as you walk on it, bits of the floor get kicked up into the air, keeping the floor constantly polished.

If there were ever a time for science to chime in, that would've been it - a prime-time television commercial for something that we now know can cause cancer and disease if you breathe it, offering to put asbestos into people's homes in the 'most used room'.

But there it was, developed by scientists, marketed with their approval, and advertised as a safe product, with millions across the country watching, and able to call in or speak up if they knew of any safety problem. And it was on television for years and sold for decades.

The same idea goes back for millenia - wealthy Romans put lead in their wine to sweeten it, unknowningly causing lead poisoning. To be certain, they had doctors and scientists of the day, who knew of the additive.

There are all manner of products we have sold, and things we have done that we mistakenly thought were safe - we just didn't have the information to know that it was unhealthy.

But now, today, particularly with the collection of data around Covid-19, we have evidence from multiple countries, and US states showing patterns everywhere to demonstrate conclusively that Virus-Avoidance Strategies cause more deadly disease in the places they are applied, when they are applied.
